The Gatehouse
Welsh Slate
Installation of Penrhyn Welsh Slate Roof Tiles
In this project we installed a new Penrhyn slate roof to replace the existing slate roof as part of a restoration project.
Located in Sydney’s exclusive Kirribilli, this beautiful building is in fact the Gatehouse on the grounds of Admiralty House, the residence of Australia’s Governor General.
Each slate was individually diamond cut to replicate the original roof, whilst the roof was finished with authentic lead and copper guttering.
Visually, Penrhyn slate offers a delightful heather blue or purple appearance that is equally at home in heritage architecture such as this, or the finest contemporary home. Yet it is Penrhyn’s exceptional quality and durability that sets it apart from many other roofing solutions.
